The first annual Feria de la Salud sponsored and hosted by ALTEX Nogales was a huge success! Over 200 were in attendance to visit booths set up by a multitude of health information and financial vendors inside the ALTEX plant. Each health fair attendee traveled from booth to booth receiving free information on a multitude of health issues including diabetes signs and testing, blood pressure checks, medications, and even free vaccinations for pets were also offered.
The goal of the inaugural health fair was to communicate to employees what services they have access to in the Nogales area and to help them take advantage of time, eliminating long waiting periods for services and unnecessary permits to leave work during business hours. Offering much needed services to employees was the catalyst in bringing the health fair to fruition. One of the most popular booths was one sponsored by FONACOT — a financial institution for employees making it possible to easily obtain a loan and then have the loan payments deducted from a weekly paycheck.
“As the host, we had everyone from ALTEX Nogales involved at one point or another. Some were providing support to visitors, sharing information on our sample assembly showcase, putting up signs, cleaning the garden, putting up posters, watering plants and working hard to get the plan in tip-top shape as host for the health fair,” said Pat Serrano, Mexico Operations Site Manager for ALTEX.
Local dignitaries, along with ALTEX team members Pat Serrano and Alfonso Soriano were present at the ribbon cutting ceremony marking the start of the inaugural health fair. ALTEX Nogales was proud to be involved in the planning, hosting and partnership of the first-ever local health fair. ALTEX employees are committed to community service partnerships and take ownership in presenting their host plant as a welcoming and top-notch facility.
“I arrived at 7 a.m. on Friday and everyone was already prepping the plant for the health fair. From painting the outside of the building to making lunch bags for the vendors — this was a group effort,” said Serrano. “The ALTEX family had a lot to be proud of and they seemed to be enjoying contributing to this new event.”
