ALTEX Wire and Cable’s Vice President of Business Development Rick Bromm has been elected to the role of chairman of the board of directors for the Wiring Harness Manufacturer’s Association (WHMA). Bromm is a 26-year veteran of ALTEX, a custom manufacturer of wire harness and cable assemblies.  Headquartered in Westfield, Ind., ALTEX has a second plant in Nogales, Mexico and employs 50 operational, engineering and production workers.
“As VP of Business Development at ALTEX, I understand that our industry must remain extremely fluid in order to respond to the demands of our clients. Through my involvement with WHMA, I want to bring value to our members by addressing high impact areas and opportunities within the industry,” says Bromm. “I look forward to contributing my knowledge and expertise to create change and improve industry standards.”
WHMA was established in 1993 and exclusively serves American manufacturers of wiring harnesses, electronic cable assemblies and cord sets, along with their suppliers and distributors. WHMA members join forces as a not-for-profit association in the spirit of volunteerism and mutual benefit to provide the only industry forum where member companies can solve both their specific business problems and also address industry concerns.
As chairman for the next year, Bromm will work to improve and expand resources offered to WHMA members. Of particular interest to Bromm is promoting the importance of adopting the IPC/WHMA A-620 industry standard, which addresses the lack of a universally recognized workmanship standard for the wire harness industry.
“At ALTEX and through WHMA, we encourage the adoption of these standards and best practices for the OEM and manufacturing communities in order to create a common language between the two, and allow for future successes within our industry,” explains Bromm.
