Case Study: Reduce Part Numbers and Floor Labor

Challenge

This Fortune 100 heavy construction equipment manufacturer needed to reduce the part numbers for a large DIN rail assembly and increase throughput times on its factory floor.

Solution

The ALTEX team worked with the customer to identify product areas that were creating bottlenecks. Employees also worked with the customer to design a sub-assembly using components from one of ALTEX’s distribution lines.

Result

Part number count was reduced by 25% and factory floor labor by 28%. There was an added benefit of reducing the floor space required for production. This was achieved by outsourcing the construction of the sub-assembly to ALTEX, combined with a just-in-time program to support the customer’s varied production schedule.
