Observed each June, National Safety Month focuses on reducing leading causes of injury and death at work, on the road and in our homes and communities. According to the National Safety Council, preventable injuries are the 4th leading cause of death in the U.S., right after heart disease, cancer and chronic lower respiratory disease.
We all face a variety of risks throughout our lives -at home, at work, at play and even on the go. When we keep safety top of mind, we are all empowered to make safe decisions for ourselves and those we care about. With many workplaces putting a heightened emphasis on safety, fatal work-related injuries are at the lowest rate since 2002, with 2.2 fatal injuries per 100,000 full time equivalent employees, as were serious non-fatal work-related injuries, with 15 injuries per 100,000. This rate has decreased each year since 2011.
At ALTEX Wire and Cable, we know workplace safety has no room for complacent thought.
