People don’t often think of manufacturing processes as an art, yet in many ways Alfonso Soriano Aguiluz is like an artist – each day adding the finest details until the final big picture is realized. From the smallest pieces of the puzzle to the more comprehensive strategy and procedures, Alfonso brings together all parts of production to ensure both customer and company goals are met efficiently. Since 2010, Alfonso has been an integral to organizing, overseeing and optimizing the production of new products at ALTEX’s plant in Nogales, Mexico.
As a processes engineer, Alfonso creates, implements and documents new procedures and ensures the coordination of all engineering departments in order to maximize the productivity and quality of ALTEX’s lean manufacturing processes.
“As a strategic outsourced partner, ALTEX customers depend on our responsiveness and engineering expertise to get even the most complex wire harness, box build and electromechanical assemblies not only built quickly, but also built to meet strict quality standards,” says Alfonso. “My job is to design fixturing and tooling processes that promote cost reduction on assemblies while improving operational efficiency and maintaining the high level of quality our customers have come to expect from ALTEX.”
Another way Alfonso helps uphold ALTEX’s commitment to quality is through his role as a certified IPC trainer. The certification indicates Alfonso’s expertise on the IPC/WHMA A-620 standard – the only universally recognized workmanship standard within the wire harness industry, which also creates a common language between OEMs and manufacturers.
Alfonso’s wealth of knowledge comes from his extensive professional background, which has included roles such as quality control technician, maintenance and industrial and project engineer for companies that manufacture products within a wide range of industries. Even after 26 years of working within the manufacturing industry, Alfonso remains dedicated to continuous learning and enjoys working for a company that encourages and facilitates professional growth amongst its employees.
Outside of work, Alfonso also challenges himself to continue growing on a personal level through his philanthropic work.
“My entire family participates in many programs within our local church,” says Alfonso. “These programs help provide families with food, clothing and home repair. We also work with a few youth programs which provide motivational classes, recreational activities and school supplies.”
When he’s not dedicating his time to help others, Alfonso enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter and two sons. He stays active physically through his love of basketball and enjoys the mental workout of devouring a good book.
